#MotivationMonday - The Best Is Yet to Come

Hello Everyone,

Well the second month of 2019 comes to a close this week. I don’t know about you but it has been difficult to focus, plan, create my vision board and navigate the execution of new ideas.

This quote inspired me this morning to give myself some grace and start today.

Decide to start from now, be kind to yourself and dream so big that you frighten yourself.

#Motivation Monday - Happy Holidays!

IMG_0045.jpg

Hello Everyone,

I don’t know about you but the holidays seem to have snuck up on me this year. To look back the year has been a blur and then all the sudden Thanksgiving is gone and we are on to Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa celebration’s.

I come from a large family and Christmas time is always one of music, food, giving back to others and lots of laughter. The official beginning of Christmas season in our household growing up was the playing of the Temptations Christmas album. When mom threw that on…. Oh yeah, Christmas time had arrived.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from to you and yours!

#MotivationMonday - Learn Something New

Learn something new everyday!

Hello Everyone,

As I draft my schedule for this week, I have several projects pulling on my time and focus. The projects are a mix of ones that I am leading, some are collaborative in which I am a contributor but we differ in opinion in the execution.

For a few days I have had to pray and been frustrated about the projects in which there are differing opinions but this morning I am surrendered. I will speak my truth in regards to the roll-out but, I have decided to also be a learner.

This quote is my Monday Motivation, a great reminder to be careful what I lend my power too. Learn from my co-workers but to learn something on purpose, the world is bigger than my desk and my to-do-list.

Let’s make today count.

#MotivationMonday - Be Stubborn About Your Goals

Hello Everyone,

I want to start out this week by encouraging you to be focused.  Be stubborn and flexible all in one.  Get an accountability partner, create a plan and have at it.

As you are working your plan, take a moment to mentor or support someone to help them reach their goals.  If they are stuck, try an unconventional way/solution.

#Monday Motivation - Start Where You Are

Hey Everyone,

So the reminder that has chased me for more than a year as I have been writing, creating and performing is "Use What You Have".  Use what I have...ok, looking around at quick glance I see that have new songs, old and new CDs to sell, my voice, my car, my hubby, my home and my friends, family & contacts.

Start where You are_plain.jpg

Simply put, this is where I will focus for the next 30 days.  I will do what I can with what I have.  How about you?  What are you going after?  Let's encourage one another with our progress.

Ciao!

Use your Voice to support a survivor!

Quote_ Voice by Maya Angelou.jpg

Hello everyone,

When writing my It's Time EP, I was compelled to write the song entitled "Time to Get Away" as a celebration to myself for surviving rape, workplace molestation and date rape as well as an inspiration to others to be bold and take action to break-free.

My story:  As a teen while walking to my friends house, I was pulled off of the street by a man that I knew, forced into a Equipment Closet of a Fast food chain and raped. Fighting, screaming and crying I finally broke free, ran down the street and hopped on a bus home.  Once at home, I nearly burned the skin off of my legs, behind, feet and private area as I scalded myself in a hot bath trying scrub the attack away.  My life changed that day, an invisible wall grew around my heart, self-worth and emotions.  Confused, hurt, violated, frustrated and ashamed I didn't speak of it with anyone.  I walked around dazed for what seemed like an eternity.  Sexual Awareness was introduced before its time and I had no tools to combat the advances and future attacks.

It wasn't until some years later that I found a "safe place" with friends in a spiritual setting that I felt empowered to begin to share my journey and stand in my truth.  Now I am able to put my thoughts into songs and pray that my music will be an encouragement, healing tool and catalyst for others.

Afraid and uncertain of what others might think or say, I pushed through (and am still pushing) to tell men and women that they are not alone, that I believe you, that you shouldn't be tortured by the person(s) that are looking at you inappropriately, talking to you suggestively or touching you without your consent.

April is Sexual Abuse Awareness Month and I ask that you use your voice to support a survivor.

  • Be a safe place for those around you that may be victimized
  • Have healthy and considerate conversations about sex
  • Give your children and those around you tools to prevent and report attacks
  • Believe someones story no matter 'who' the people are and how badly it may hurt you to find out what did or is still happening
  • Take action to get help for yourself or others

Here is my song Time to Get Away.  May it help you to land softly.

"It's Time!" EP -- New music under construction!

Patience is not the ability to wait but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.                   -Joyce Meyers

Hello everyone,

I wanted to give you and update on my new EP.  Orchestrating an EP is an exciting adventure which resembles planning a wedding.  Lots of moving pieces everything from writing music, recording sessions and photo shoots to designing a roll-out campaign and scouting locations for release party.  I am now awaiting cover designs and landing a location for the release party.

Initially I was bummed that I wasn't releasing this work in July but...I believe that all flowers blooms in season so, I am not going to rush the passion, love and time that has gone into this project.

So instead of forecasting a date I will simply say that the "It's Time!" EP is coming your way soon.

In the meantime, check in weekly for new blogs and live music.

Ciao!
