I've never missed a gig yet. Music makes people happy, and that's why I go on doing it. I like to see everybody smile. --Buddy Guy
Please joining me in singing Happy Birthday to the innovative, inspirational and trailblazing George "Buddy" Guy. Born on July 30, 1936 Buddy is a Legendary blues guitarist and singer who has influenced the careers of many amazing guitarists including: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Keith Richards, and John Mayer.
As a musician growing up in the Midwest, for me the name Buddy Guy is synonymous with Chicago blues and takes me back to family parties with my parents, aunts and uncles playing Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy chasing us children out of the basement saying "y'all don't know nothing about this - this is grown folks music".
Even though Buddy turns 81 today you can see him live on tour through the end of the year.
See Buddy playing Louisiana Blues in my hometown of Milwaukee.
Happy Birthday Buddy and thank you for your fine musicianship!
