Being a singer is a natural gift. It means I'm using to the highest degree possible the gift that God gave me to use. I'm happy with that. --Aretha Franklin
At the age of 74, Aretha Franklin - the Queen of Soul has announced her retirement. In her amazing career, Ms. Franklin has a total of 112 charted singles on Billboard, has garnered 18 Grammy's and was the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In my life, there was never a time with out the music of Aretha Franklin. In our home, her music was always present along with Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and the Commodores. In my music career, her music, faith and conviction has been an encouragement and inspiration.
To finish her spectacular career, Ms. Franklin will collaborate with Stevie Wonder to do a CD paying tribute to Detroit. The writers from MSN music has written a great article that highlights this new work.
Thank you Queen Aretha, we look forward to the new CD and wish you a restful retirement!
